Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: This tidal shoreline layer is based primarily on shoreline data provided by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM), with minor modifications in six locations. In all six instances, the modifications were made using the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) zero-foot sea level rise dataset. These modifications were as follows:Added the Delaware portion of the tidal Nanticoke River up to the mean higher high tidal limit.Added a braided channel in the Anacostia River in Washington, DC at Kingman Island.Widened the Anacostia River in Washington, DC at the Washington Navy Yard.Shortened the Rappahannock River to the mean higher high tidal limit.Shortened the York River to the mean higher high tidal limit.Shortened the Pamunkey River to the mean higher high tidal limit. The VIMS source dataset is a composite of shorelines taken from shoreline inventories created by the Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), Gloucester Point, Virginia. Inventory shorelines range in publication date from 2009 to 2022 and reference imagery from high resolution imagery from Virginia's VBMP (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and/or 2019), NOAA Continually Updated Shoreline Product (CUSP), and Maryland's Six-Inch resolution aerial imagery (2016/2017 and 2019/2020), and are not tidally referenced.
